I posted this Wednesday night, but it was gone when I checked back Thursday morning to see what the new challenge was.

The kids made leprechaun traps for Family Home Evening in hopes of catching one of those mischievous little people. Although the traps were all sprung in the morning, there were just notes from the leprechauns boasting that that they couldn't be caught. They also turned our milk green, but they did leave a tray of green goodies for us all with some clues as to the location. All in all, it was a fun holiday. You can see the other traps here if you're interested.

Down under the dead leaves, I found this little plate emerging. Not sure why I like this photo. I thought the subdued green might contrast well with the bright greens I expect to show up today.

"Green Hill in the Rain" - Cary
The greenest hillside in Vicksburg at any time of year is found below the Ameristar administrative offices just off Washington Street. This is winter grass and its obviously highly manicured but it sure looks great in the rain. Matthew with the umbrella was a fortuitous last-minute addition.
E-3 w/ 12-60mm @ 27mm, 1/4 sec @ f/8, ISO 100, RAW proc. in ALR2

Next Week's Challenge:
Southern Shots
19 March 2009 - Weekly Photo Challenge: "< - - W i d e - - >"
Due: 25 March 2009
This week's theme is about exploring wide-format presentation. Not necessarily photos taken with a wide angle lens but rather photos presented in a wide aspect ratio. Our cameras all take pictures with aspect ratios between 1.33 - 1.6 when held horizontally. This challenge is about presenting a final photo that has an aspect ratio of at least 1.75:1. Whether this is one shot cropped down or a panorama of pictures horizontally stitched is, of course, up to you. Bonus points for aspect ratios better than 2:1.
Here is a gallery of some good examples to get you thinking.
Good luck and enjoy shooting < - - w i d e - - > subjects!
